MAY DAY: AMORAN Applauds Ogun Workers’ Resilience, Hails Gov. Abiodun’s Support
As workers across the globe observe this year’s International Workers’ Day, the Ogun State Chapter of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) has joined in celebrating the unyielding spirit and contribution of Nigerian workers, particularly those in the transport sector.
In a statement commemorating May Day 2025 issued by the State Chairman of AMORAN, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, he described the day as “a moment to honour the dignity of labour and the unwavering efforts of those who keep the wheels of our economy moving, often under challenging conditions.”
Otunba Sokoya paid special tribute to motorcycle riders, mechanics and other informal transport operators in Ogun State. According to him, these individuals play a critical role in delivering essential services and sustaining livelihoods across urban and rural communities.
“Despite the current situation of things,” he noted, “our members continue to demonstrate discipline, resilience and an enduring hope for a better future.”
He also used the occasion to commend the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for what he described as a proactive and inclusive approach to transport policy. Sokoya highlighted the state government’s efforts in engaging transport unions and crafting safety-focused, growth-oriented frameworks that benefit both riders and commuters.
“We are grateful to our performing governor for recognizing the strategic importance of the transport sector and consistently partnering with us to foster safety, job creation and economic stability,” the AMORAN chairman stated.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to responsible unionism, peacebuilding and professionalism within the sector, emphasizing AMORAN’s readiness to support policies that enhance the wellbeing of its members and the general public.
As the statement concluded, Sokoya extended his solidarity to all Nigerian workers, reiterating that the strength of the nation lies in the hands of those who toil daily to build it.
“Long live Nigerian workers, long live Ogun State, and long live AMORAN,” he declared.
