OGUN 2027: Kashamu, Omo Ilu Group Commit to YAYI’s Governorship Bid

Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, member representing Ijebu North I State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has led a large delegation of the Omo Ilu group to meet with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) , reaffirming the group’s commitment to his 2027 governorship bid.

Kashamu also serves as the Deputy State Director of the City Boy Movement in Ogun State and Co-Chairman, Youth Engagement Committee of the Ogun State APC Campaign Council.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Kashamu and members of the Omo Ilu group to formally pledge their unalloyed and unflinching support for Adeola, with a commitment to mobilise extensively across the state and work towards securing massive votes for the APC candidate in the 2027 governorship election.
The Omo Ilu group was founded by Kashamu’s late father, Senator Buruji Kashamu, who represented Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019. The group has, over the years, built a broad membership base across Ogun State.

Speaking during the meeting, Rasheed Kashamu said Adeola had distinguished himself through his political experience, legislative profile and commitment to delivering democratic dividends, describing him as the right candidate to consolidate the gains already recorded in Ogun State and move the state to greater heights.
He reiterated that the APC candidate’s track record and experience in public service were among the qualities that set him apart from other contenders. 

He assured that he would work vigorously with members of the Omo Ilu group and other political structures within his reach to mobilise support for Adeola’s emergence as the next governor of Ogun State.

The lawmaker’s latest declaration comes amid ongoing mobilisation by APC stakeholders and support groups ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Responding, Senator Adeola commended Kashamu and members of the Omo Ilu group for the visit and their expression of support, while paying tribute to the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, whom he described as a tireless grassroots mobiliser and a reputable political leader.

YAYI acknowledged Rasheed Kashamu’s role in the ongoing mobilisation efforts within the APC, describing him as a notable and worthy member of the City Boy Movement family and recognising his position as Deputy Director of the movement in Ogun State.

He expressed appreciation for the commitment demonstrated by Kashamu and the Omo Ilu group, urging them to sustain the momentum and remain focused on the collective objective ahead of the 2027 polls.

Basorun Adebayo Awosanya appointed as Consultant to Ogun State Governor

Ogun State, Nigeria – August 2025 – In a recent announcement from the Ogun State Government, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, has approved the appointment of Basorun Adebayo Awosanya of Sagamu Local Government as a Consultant to the Governor.
