2027: Okubadejo Congratulates YAYI, Commends Peaceful Ogun APC Primaries
Ogun State Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Hon. Oladapo Abdulrahman Okubadejo, has congratulated the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, following his emergence as the party’s flag bearer in the governorship primary election held on Wednesday, 21st of May, 2026.
Okubadejo described the outcome of the exercise as a clear reflection of the confidence reposed in Senator Adeola by party faithful across the state, expressing optimism that the APC candidate possesses the experience, political strength and grassroots connection required to lead the party to victory in the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the conclusion of the primary, the commissioner commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise and lauded members of the party for their massive turnout and orderly participation throughout the series of APC primaries conducted in the state.
He noted that the party had successfully conducted primary elections for House of Representatives aspirants, senatorial aspirants and the governorship primary on Wednesday, while preparations were already underway for the presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
According to him, the seamless organisation of the exercises across the state was a testament to the unity, coordination and internal stability within the Ogun APC.
Okubadejo particularly praised the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun for ensuring adequate security and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the exercises.
He stated that the calm and secure environment created by the Governor, encouraged party members to freely participate in the democratic process without fear or intimidation.
“If the environment was not peaceful and secure, party members would not have come out en masse to participate in the exercise the way they did,” he said.
The commissioner further described Senator Adeola’s emergence as “the overwhelming decision of party faithful,” stressing that the APC had once again demonstrated its democratic credentials through a transparent and credible process.
He expressed confidence that the governorship candidate would enjoy widespread support ahead of the 2027 general election, adding that the APC remained strongly positioned to retain power in Ogun State.
Okubadejo also called on party loyalists, supporters and residents of the state to sustain the unity and commitment displayed during the primaries and replicate the same momentum during the general elections.
He urged members of the party to close ranks and work collectively for the success of all APC candidates, saying the primary election was not about individual ambition but the continued progress and development of Ogun State under the leadership of the ruling party.
“With the level of participation, unity and peaceful conduct witnessed during these exercises, it is evident that our party is prepared and focused. By the grace of God, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola will emerge victorious in 2027,” he added.
